A Shell And A Stone Intro

Thanks for checking out my new blog – A Shell And A Stone, my name is Aaron Nichols – I’m from Ottawa, KS – 31 years old – this is a special place where I hope to share the experiences of the next month or so of my life. Some of you may know that I have recently left my job of 11 years and am about to take a cross-country trip to Oceanside, Ca to visit some family and do some soul-searching along the way.

The name of this blog is very special and I’ll explain it here: in the last year and a half, I have been deeply affected by the loss of two dear family members…

The Shell: Our patriarch of the Nichols family, Uncle Steve, recently passed as he lost his battle with cancer. His adventurous spirit distinguished him among men as someone who navigated fearful waters with courage. For him, I carry with me a Shell from Jacksonville Beach, and am inspired to create my own adventurous travel – hence this cross country trip.

The Stone: Blessed was I to know and love our beautiful cousin Megan (Price) Werner. This spunky wife and mother of two had been one of my best friends since I was born. Although she lived several states away, our love and family connection stayed true until January of 2009. She tragically took her own life to the utter shock and dismay of all those who knew her. When we stood in her home a few days later and Uncle Steve had said “It was Money” I fell apart even further inside. At that time, I was halfway through my own journey to financial freedom – I had the answers that could have helped – and yet was too late. For her, I carry with me a Stone from the Mohican River in Ohio, from a floating trip with her sister Tera, kids Mel and Tristan and husband John and several Kansans – All who wished she was floating with us. Since that point I have become a Financial Fitness Coach and am Passionate about helping families and individuals deal with the stress of living paycheck to paycheck. True North Financial Fitness Coaching is my new career path that I am persuing in her honor. Love Ya Meg.

This song still inspires me and has stuck with me since my younger days, just as dreams of this trip have – Enjoy, and please keep checking back – I’ll try to update as much as possible – Thank You!

Aaron I must say we have all had our life experiences that have shaped who we are and are still shaping us. Some were expected and some were not. My spirit will be with you as you take this journey. There is no better time then right now when we have the whole world at our fingertips. You are an amazing person and are going to touch so many lives in this journey. Just remember that everyone comes into our lives for a reason and sometimes we don't always know what that reason is until they are long gone. Good luck and best wishes.

Aaron, Be careful out there in Atwood KS. I worked a few storms there over the years and the hail can be the size of basketballs. Oh yeah, do not tell anyone you talk to there that you know me, I think there may still be a few warrants out for me. I am with you 100 percent and if you should need anything along the way do not wait to call 785-250-9332, my phone is always with me. Just keep in mind that I am an "OLD PERSON" but if you call from Vegas I can be there in a heartbeat! God Speed and rest assured you are very welcome here in Oceanside CA. Uncle Harry {Bob} Comstock.
